Are vape shops and e-cigarette retailers eligible?
Yes. E-cigarette stores and vape shops may be eligible, subject to products sold, sales mix, security controls, and underwriting review.
Are cigar and specialty tobacco stores eligible?
Specialty tobacco retailers, which may include cigar-focused stores, may be considered, subject to product mix and underwriting review.
Are Kratom products accepted?
No. Kratom products and Kratom-related exposures are not eligible under this program.
What coverage lines are available for smoke shops?
Coverage may include Commercial Property, General Liability, Products Liability, Liquor Liability, and Excess Liability for qualifying accounts, subject to underwriting.
Is Products Liability available?
Yes. Products Liability may be available for eligible retailers, subject to the products sold, sales mix, and underwriting review. Kratom exposures are not eligible.
Is Liquor Liability available?
Liquor Liability may be available for eligible accounts that sell alcohol, subject to sales and operations details and underwriting review.
Is Excess Liability available?
Excess Liability and higher liability limits may be available for qualifying smoke shop accounts, subject to underwriting.
Are same-day smoke shop quotes available?
Same-day quotes may be available for eligible smoke shop, tobacco store, and vape store locations with total insurable values under $1.5M when a complete submission is provided.
What is the maximum property capacity?
Commercial Property capacity may be available up to $5M TIV. Larger schedules are typically reviewed with a turnaround of one to two weeks, subject to underwriting.
How are inventory values and theft exposures evaluated?
Underwriting reviews property values, business personal property, high-value inventory, security controls such as burglar alarms and cameras, and loss history. Theft sublimits may be available at 10% of business personal property, up to a maximum of $25,000, subject to underwriting approval and policy terms.
What should a broker submit for a smoke shop quote?
A complete submission typically includes ACORD 125, 126, and 140, a completed smoke shop supplemental covering products sold, sales mix, security controls, and theft exposure, currently valued loss runs, and liquor sales details when Liquor Liability is requested.
